A Heart Wide Open

February is synonymous with love, and I have a great deal to be passionate about this month. From the hard won success of my clients, to the launch of my new book, I certainly have cupid on my side!

First, I’m passionate about my clients.

On this entpreneurial journey I call Career & Performance Coaching (aka all-round career ass-kicking) there is no better moment when a client I’ve been working with experiences their defining break-through moment.

They take a leap of faith in themselves and (surprise) they land on their feet! They land the big client or they land that new job. They hire their first employee or they punch their last clock. Whatever form it takes, their break-through moment is when they realize that their world is, in fact, much bigger and far more promising than they ever imagined.

And while this is exciting – it’s not even the best part! You see, when a client’s heart expands like this – so does the world around them. They’re able to give back to the people in their lives in a way that they never could before with renewed love, energy, resources, and ideas. See, the longer I’m in this business, the more I realize that we’re all in this together. This world. This life. This time. It’s not so much about making money (although cash flow is a necessity)

It’s not about protecting some secret knowledge or guarding some unique skill set. It’s about sharing the best of ourselves to improve things. It’s about living with a heart wide open.it’s about creating positive momentum for those people around you. Clients. Friends. Colleagues. Whoever.

Of course, we can’t share what we’re not willing to risk. My accountant is quick to remind me that there will be clients who’ll disappointment me. My publisher warms me to protect my work with a copyright. But I’m willing to risk a few disappointments in exchange for the opportunity to make a big difference. That’s why I’m so passionate about my clients; because through them I get to improve the world, one person at a time.

Second, I’m passionate about my new book.

Earlier this month I announced via social media that I’m wading into the world of publishing. That’s right, yours truly is about to become an author! <deep breath> And while the idea still makes my guts flip-flop, I know it’s one of the best ways for me to make a really big impact.

I’ve been hearing from a lot of women lately who are having an especially difficult time getting their career on track. They know that they’re talented and capable but they’re current work doesn’t allow them to leverage those strengths in a meaningful way. Caught between wanting to support their families and wanting to do something that energizes them, they’re feeling stressed out, alone and lost. So after hearing about so many people’s struggles, I decided to darn well do something about it… I’m writing a concise,step-by-step guide for women who want a career makeover.

Watch for it’s launch this July!

Needless to say, 2012 is going to be exciting and I’m glad you’re along for the ride.

Here’s to Valentine’s  Day, making a big difference, and living with a heart wide open!
