Get close to the things you love

Last week I shared with you that career frustration could actually be a gift and that the only way to find that gift is to get up close and personal with it. Sure, career frustration is unpleasant, but it always provides answers.  (Read about it here)

This week I want you to get up close again, but in a different way. This week I challenge you to get up close with the things you love.

What do I mean?  Do things that inspire you!

What inspires you?

You know the feeling…when you’re engaged in an activity that fuels you up, gives you a spark and makes you happy to be alive? That’s what I’m talking about.

Remember: we are the architects of our own lives. If we want to be happy, we have to create happiness in our lives. And when we do, we naturally attract other happy people into our lives, and that’s when opportunities come.

So take a minute and think about it. What things are missing from your life that you find inspirational?

  • Do you feel isolated at work? Consider getting out into the community by volunteering or joining a meetup group.
  • Do you get inspired being part of a high vibe team? Consider joining a non-profit board at an organization that fires you up.
  • Do you feel depleted working in a concrete- or cubicle-jungle? Consider a noon-hour meditation class or take walk in an urban oasis like this one:

When you do get out there, pay attention to why you love it. How do you show up in that moment? Are you more resilient, outgoing, creative, calm? And how can you allow that woman to show up a little more each day?

I can guarantee that when you seek out the things you love and get close to them your energy will be renewed.

And naturally that excitement will begin to flow into other areas of your life, including your career. You just never know what might happen until you get out there and do it!

Life’s too short to miss out on the things you love.
