Your Desires Are Not Wrong

Desire-is-possibility

A new year brings with it the opportunity to reflect on what we want out of life and create a list of intentions for the year.

Unfortunately, the majority of those good intentions and earnest efforts will be abandoned long before progress is visible.  Why?

Because we’ve been taught that our desires are wrong; that it’s selfish to want more.

When we do share our dreams, we’re often made to feel naïve for thinking something else is possible for us. We’re told to get our heads out of the clouds.

That advice is meant to protect us from feeling disappointed or, more often than not, to keep others from feeling threatened by our dreams.  But, in truth, this thinking actually blocks us from the happiness and impact that we’re meant for.

I stand for every woman to get what she desires. It is not wrong to have dreams and desires.  They are yours for a reason!  And you wouldn’t have them unless you had the ability, on some level, to fulfill them.

What’s more, you deserve to fill them!  No person has any more entitlement than you to fulfill their dreams.  You are just as worthy as every other woman.

In fact, when you see someone else having, doing or being what you desire and you feel that ‘pull’, it is your soul’s recognition that it is possible for you too!

What’s more, you are doing yourself and those around you a disservice if you are not out there being, doing, and demonstrating to others the pure joy that comes from getting what you want out of life.

Jack Canfield has been quoted as saying, “You are not given a dream unless you have the capacity to fulfill it.”  Wallace Wattles, author of the Science of Getting Rich, writes, “…desire is possibility seeking expression.”

So as we embrace 2016 and all it has to offer, make this year THE year that you make yourself and your desires a priority. Because when you look back on your life one day, you’ll only regret the things you haven’t done and the dreams you didn’t realize.
